Presentation on the project management, design, and construction of the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC) Surge Barrier Project that will provide 100-year storm protection to New Orleans. The IHNC is the largest design-build civil works project ever accomplished by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The project includes a 10,000 ft long, 26 ft high surge barrier with three flood gates to block a hurricane storm surge from entering the IHNC canal in New Orleans, precluding a Hurricane Katrina flooding repeat.
The IHNC Surge Barrier Project achieved the Engineering News Record 2011 "Best of the Best", Civil Works/Infrastructure Category Award.
