Each year project teams take on the toughest challenges the New England Region can throw at them. From the design and engineering to the construction means and methods, all the players in this industry have a role to play to bring about the required solutions. CMAA New England wants to recognize this dedication and hard work by acknowledging the projects and the project teams that make it all happen.

This year's Awards Program will be held at the Omni Parker House at 60 School Street in Boston, Massachusetts on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. We hope you will attend and help us celebrate a fantastic year!

For those not familiar with CMAA New England Chapter's Annual Award program, it is the chapter's largest event of the year where we recognize projects across numerous categories and celebrate the project teams that made them successful. Categories include Infrastructure, Renovation, New Building Construction, and Program. This year awards are being presented for projects ranging from 'Less than $10 Million' up to 'Greater than $100 Million'. There will also be individuals recognized for outstanding achievement. These awards include Distinguished Service Awards, Person of the Year, and Academic Excellence Awards to deserving CM students. And there is lunch of course!

Keynote - Sustainability Trends in the Built Environment: Translating Harvard's Research into Practice

Speaker - Heather Henriksen, Managing Director, Harvard University Office for Sustainability

Heather Henriksen has served as Harvard University’s chief sustainability officer since 2008, advising the President and senior leadership on strategy and building an organizational change initiative.

Heather leads the Office for Sustainability which spearheads the implementation of Harvard’s comprehensive Sustainability Plan, and Climate Action Plan which sets bold goals to transform the campus to be fossil fuel-free by 2050 and fossil fuel-neutral by 2026, building upon the 2016 achievement of Harvard’s initial science-based climate goal. She and her team have expanded a multi-disciplinary living laboratory research program that partners with faculty, students and staff to use the campus as a testbed for piloting and sharing scalable solutions to global sustainability challenges.

A nationally recognized leader in healthier building materials, Heather is leading an effort within Harvard and with business and non-profit leaders to address the use of chemicals of concern in common building products.  She is on the Board of Directors of the Health Product Declaration Collaborative. Heather serves as Advisory Committee Co-chair of the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN). She also advises courses throughout Harvard College and the professional graduate schools and speaks nationally and internationally on sustainability. Heather holds a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.

CMAA New England is pleased to have Heather share the latest developments and initiatives that Harvard University is pursuing related to health in the built environment. She is excited to open a dialogue between owners and CM professionals on building healthier environments for the future.
