Join CMAA-NE for its exciting December breakfast program to hear internationally recognized Architect Miguel Rosales discuss the design of the new North Washington Street Bridge replacement for Boston, MA. Bidding and construction is expected to begin in 2016, and the anticipated four year construction includes the rework of gas lines and utilities that currently span the bridge. Most of the $100 million price tag is coming from Federal highway funds with the balance from the state.
Mr. Rosales, president and principal designer of Rosales + Partners, has over twenty-five years of experience as a leading bridge architect for major infrastructure projects in the United States and abroad. He is noted for his practical ability to balance technical and aesthetic principles, conceiving cost-effective architectural bridge enhancements, and delivering iconic bridges that have become symbols of identity and community pride. He will discuss how these play out in the design options and challenges, including the proximity to the iconic Zakim Bridge, for which he was lead architect and urban designer, as well as the challenges to schedule and constructability presented by the bridge’s location and heavy use.
